Brodie

Gaelic: Brothaigh
Badge: Hand gripping three arrows
Latin Motto: Unite
Brodies possibly have pictish origins but come from Morayshire where Michael Brothie held the barony from Richard I in 1311.

Brodie Castle was burned down in 1645 and the all their early records were lost.   Alexander Brodie (1617-1679) helped the return of Charles II and negotiated with Oliver Cromwell over the possibility of the Anglo Scottish Union in 1651. The tartan is found in the Highland Society of London collection 1816.
