Corporate Social Responsibility
Mission
At Kinloch Anderson, our commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is woven into the fabric of our business. It reflects our dedication to our employees, community, and cultural heritage.
As a six-generation family business, our mission is to deliver the highest possible quality of products and standards of service. Likewise, we want to provide a safe & empowering environment for our employees and community.
Thus, we dedicate ourselves to making a positive impact by supporting our employers, customers, suppliers, and local community.

Our People
We pride ourselves on being a family business that values every employee as an essential part of our extended family. Therefore, we believe in fostering an inclusive environment with equal opportunities, a living wage, and personal development central to our ethos.
We show our commitment to staff in the comprehensive training and regular appraisals we provide, supporting their career aspirations.
In 2021, kiltmaking was sadly listed on the Red List of Endangered Crafts, highlighting the need for preservation efforts. This deepened our resolve to preserve and promote traditional craft skills, ensuring their endurance for future generations to appreciate.
As part of our initiative, we offer work experience to students, helping their transition to become the next generation of artisans.
Local Community
We have been active in the Edinburgh community for over 150 years. During this time, we have built strong collaborations with local businesses and charities through various fundraising events and donations. Notably, we played a significant role in restoring the Sundial in Inverleith Park, demonstrating our commitment to preserving local heritage and community projects
Our engagement extends to educational and community outreach through tours in our Heritage Room in Leith. Our tours delve into the fascinating history of tartan and kiltmaking, sharing unique insights into our production processes and fabrics.
Education and personal development are key pillars of our CSR activities. Deirdre Kinloch Anderson OBE plays an active role in this through her “Tartan Talks.” Deirdre's workshops help Scottish students learn about the origins of Highland Dress, Scottish textiles, and designs. By engaging with schools and supporting educational initiatives, we aim to inspire and educate pupils about Scotland's rich cultural heritage.
