National Galleries

The National Galleries Tartan was designed in 1991 and was based on the Black Watch Tartan. The Black Watch tartan was chosen as it's a Government Tartan and the National Galleries are a Government funded body. The claret red represents the claret colour restored to the decor of the National Galleries in accordance with William Playfair's original colour scheme. There are three claret stripes in this tartan to represent the three galleries.
