The Kiltmaker Whisky Series
Pleated to Sett

The Whisky

First in our collection, the Kiltmaker Series, Pleated to Sett is a uniquely rich blend with fresh, citrus notes, evolving into a spectrum of dried fruits and warming spice, creating a long, moreish finish.

The Kiltmaker Series offers a sip of Leith's vibrant whisky legacy, once known as Edinburgh's 'whisky district', now home to new and thriving whisky distilleries, blenders, and Kinloch Anderson.

Pleated to Sett celebrates our roots, with each bottle created, blended, and bottled in collaboration with our neighbours Woven Whisky Makers and The Leith Export Co.

The name itself draws inspiration from a kiltmaking expression used to describe a seamless tartan pattern through the pleats of a kilt. Just as chalking ensures each pleat is intentional, the precise artistry of blending selects distinct flavours with a deliberate purpose and finesse.

Pleated to Sett is non-chill filtered, natural colour and has been bottled at 46.8% ABV and is a limited release with only 540 70cl bottles of Batch 01 available worldwide.

The whisky is also available in 10cl miniature bottles.

The Tartan Off-Cut Bag

Sustainability is at the core of everything we do. With our brand new whisky, we wanted to create something meaningful to minimise waste.  We committed to plastic-free packaging and that's why we created a bottle bag using tartan and velvet offcuts from our kiltmaking and manufacturing processes.

Our fabrics are crafted from the finest threads, and we saw an opportunity to give them a new purpose. The result is a beautiful, reusable gift bag that not only enhances the whisky inside but also tells a story of heritage and craftsmanship.

By repurposing our fabrics, we're taking a step further that reflects our dedication to both the environment and the rich traditions of our craft.

Our whisky bag is available for both 70cl and 10 cl bottles.

Tasting Notes by Blair Bowman

When commenting on the launch, Blair Bowman, whisky consultant, said:

"I was delighted to be asked to advise the Kinloch Anderson family on their exciting new Kiltmaker Series. Inspired by the synergies of weaving tartans and blending whisky, Pleated to Sett, the first release, is a testament to local craftsmanship. The whisky is a modern expression of a timeless tradition, and I can't wait for everyone to raise a glass!"

Blair was the first one to try our whisky and these are his tasting notes.

Nose:

A burst of fresh, grassy notes evokes a summer meadow, followed by hints of zesty citrus peel and a touch of floral complexity with lavender and honeysuckle.

Palate:

The initial grassy character leads into a wave of nuttiness reminiscent of toasted almonds. Layers of fruit unfold, revealing hints of apricot, plum, red berries and more fresh citrus. A subtle touch of warming spice, like cinnamon and a hint of ginger. The whisky boasts a rounded, creamy mouthfeel.

Finish:

The finish is exceptionally long and satisfying, with lingering waves of spice, fruit, and nuttiness.

Overall:

Pleated to Sett offers a refreshing and complex experience. Exceptionally well-balanced, it opens with bright, grassy and citrus notes before evolving into layers of fruits, nuts, and spice. A rounded, creamy mouthfeel complements the long, lingering finish.
