Kinloch Anderson are supporting the City of Edinburgh who are entering the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race 2011 /2012 with their ‘Edinburgh Inspiring Capital’ yacht crewed by a team of 52 people.
As sponsors of this famous race Kinloch Anderson are providing Breacans (sportsmen’s kilts) for the men and kilted skirts for the ladies in the City of Edinburgh tartan. This was designed by Kinloch Anderson in 1997 to mark the City of Edinburgh hosting the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting that year.
The Edinburgh yacht will be named by Jenny Dawe, Leader of the City of Edinburgh Council, and Deirdre Kinloch Anderson, Director of Kinloch Anderson, in Southampton on Saturday 30th July. The Clipper race starts the following afternoon on Sunday 31st July. Prior to the start of the race there will be a Fleet Parade of Sail down Southampton Water led by a Royal Navy Battleship. The Clipper 2011 / 12 race finishes at Southampton on 22nd July 2012 and will be calling at 14 different ports round the world
