The Castle Grey of Edinburgh
This is a 12/8 march tune in compound time with four beats to the bar. 12/8 time signature music is frequently paced more slowly in blues and doo-wop and has also been used more recently in pop music.  

The Castle Grey of Edinburgh march has been exclusively composed for Kinloch Anderson by Pipe Major Derek Potter RVM. The Sovereign’s Piper 2008-2012.

The Castle Grey of Edinburgh
This march is named after the Kinloch Anderson Castle Grey tartan and recalls the majestic splendour of Edinburgh Castle’s Esplanade where Pipe Bands proudly march at performances of The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo in August. The tartan itself reflects the grey granite of Scotland’s historic castles and the colours have also been selected from The City of Edinburgh’s Coat of Arms.
